Norton™ Virus Scan Not Working
- Computer clock has not been setup properly.
- Older version of Norton is not completely uninstalled.
- Conflict with a non-Norton security software.
- Computer is infected with a virus that is blocking virus scan.
- Check to make sure that your computer clock is setup properly.
- You need to check day, month, year, and time zone.
- If not setup properly, adjust the settings.
- Restart the computer and try again the virus scan.
- If problem is not resolved go to Step 2.
- The Norton Removal Tool uninstalls all Norton 2003 and later products, Norton 360, and Norton System Works 12.0 from your computer. make sure that you have the installation CDs to reinstall the product.
- Download the Norton Removal Tool & Save the file to the Windows desktop.
- On the Windows desktop, double-click the Norton Removal Tool icon. Follow the on-screen instructions.
- Restart your computer. After the computer restarts, follow the on-screen instructions to reinstall your Norton product. If it still fails go to Step 3.
- Check if you have any third-party Security or Firewall software present.
- Open the “Add or Remove Program” control panel applet.
- If you find a Non-Norton security software, select it, and uninstall it.
- Try installing Norton software.
- Download the Norton’s Power Eraser tool from https://support.norton.com/sp/en/us/norton-download-install/current/solutions/kb20100824120155EN_EndUserProfile_en_us.
- Follow the instructions to install this tool, and scan your computer for viruses, and retry downloading Norton Security software.
