Norton™ Blocking Internet Connection
- Norton Firewall is not configured properly.
- Another Firewall is conflicting with Norton Firewall.
- Some other networking issue is blocking internet access.
- Open your browser.
- Try opening one of your favorite sites of search engine search as www.google.com or www.bing.com.
- If you can access the website go to Step 2.
- If you cannot access the website go to Step 3.
- Since you can access the common search engines, your internet connection is working. The problem is specific to a website or an application that may be blocked by Norton Smart Firewall.
- In the Firewall options window, click the Turn Off button. Norton will confirm that you want to disable the service with a popup message.
- Test the application or the website that you cannot connect to.
- If you cannot connect to the internet, turn on the firewall. You need help from a qualified technician.
- If you can connect to the internet the problem is with Norton Smart Firewall configuration. You need help from a qualified technician.
- Start your Norton product. Click Settings.
- Depending on your Norton product, do one of the following:
- For Norton Internet Security: On the Network tab, from the left pane, click Smart Firewall.
- For Norton 360 or Norton Security: Under Detailed Settings, click Firewall.
- Next to Smart Firewall, click the status indicator to turn it Off.
- In the Protection Alert dialog box, from the drop-down menu, select Permanently, and then click OK.
- Restart your computer & retest your internet connection.
