How to (Completely) Uninstall Norton™ Security
- Norton installation or configuration files may be corrupted.
- Norton upgrade or an installation was only partially completed.
- Conflict with another security software is blocking installation.
- Open the “Add or Remove Program” control panel applet.
- Find Norton Security software, select it.
- Uninstall Norton Security with Windows Installer.
- Go to Step 2.
- Windows Installer sometimes fails to completely remove all Norton files.
- Norton has a specialized tool called Norton Removal Tool.
- Norton Removal Tool uninstalls all Norton 2003 and later products, Norton 360, from your computer. Make sure that you have the installation CDs to reinstall the product.
- Download the Norton Removal Tool & Save the file to the Windows desktop.
- On the Windows desktop, double-click the Norton Removal Tool icon. Follow the on-screen instructions.
- Restart your computer. After the computer restarts, follow the on-screen instructions to reinstall your Norton product. If it still fails go to Step 3.
- Check if you have any third-party Security or Firewall software present.
- Open the “Add or Remove Program” control panel applet.
- If you find a Non-Norton security software, select it, and uninstall it.
- Try installing Norton software.
